Bangladeshi student leader murder case: Two accused arrested in India

New Delhi: Indian police have arrested two Bangladeshi nationals allegedly involved in the murder of a popular student leader in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

According to Kashmir24, Indian police have claimed that the two culprits had allegedly entered India illegally. Bangladeshi student leader Sharif Usman Hadi, considered a strong critic of India, was active in the public movement against Sheikh Hasina Wajid’s government in 2024.

As a result of the movement, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to leave power and flee to India. Usman was injured in a gunfight by masked assailants last year and was later transferred to Singapore for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. Bangladeshi police claimed that the killer had fled to India after the incident.

Police in the Indian border state of West Bengal have said that initial interrogation of two Bangladeshi nationals in their custody has indicated that they were involved in the murder of Usman Sharif Hadi.
