Key findings

  • 1,318 hate speech events were recorded in India in 2025; 98% targeted Muslims, and 88% took place in BJP-governed states (India Hate Lab).
  • Amnesty International documented 128 demolitions in five states between April and June 2022, affecting more than 600 people, mostly Muslims.
