Islamabad Bar Council delegation visits APHC-AJK office, discusses IIOJK situation


Islamabad: A delegation of the Islamabad Bar Council visited the office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter and met with the Hurriyat leadership to discuss the latest situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Indian state terrorism and human rights violations and efforts to highlight the Kashmir dispute at the international level.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the delegation comprised Choudhry Asif Irfan, Vice Chairman of the Islamabad Bar Council; Abdul Rehman Bajwa, member of the Islamabad Bar Council; Choudhry Hafeezullah Yaqoob, member of the Islamabad Bar Council; Raja Khawar Dhanyal, General Secretary of the Islamabad District Bar Association; Raja Khalid Mahmood, Executive Member of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association; and Awais-ul-Islam, Chief Organiser of the Jammu and Kashmir Lawyers Forum, along with other lawyers.

Speaking on the occasion, Choudhry Asif Irfan said the APHC represented the sentiments, hardships and sacrifices of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said the legal fraternity supported the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and would continue to fulfil its responsibilities by highlighting the legal, political and diplomatic dimensions of the Kashmir dispute.

He stressed the need to further strengthen coordination and consultation between the legal fraternity and the Hurriyat Conference to effectively highlight the human rights situation in IIOJK at the international level. He also expressed the resolve to raise the Kashmiri people’s voice more effectively at legal and human rights forums.
