Bareilly: A ban on Friday prayers in Maharajganj village of Uttar Pradesh has led the local Muslim community to approach the Allahabad High Court, challenging restrictions on their right to offer Jummah prayers.
According to Kashmir24, the dispute began when several Muslim residents performed Friday prayers in a private house, prompting objections from local Hindu residents. Authorities responded with heavy police deployment, detaining 12 individuals and preventing further prayers.
The administration cited “law and order” concerns, while the community maintained that their constitutional right to worship was being violated without justification.
