Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Congress MLAs Irfan Lone and Iftikhar Ahmed staged a protest outside the Legislative Assembly in Jammu against the rising harassment and attacks on Kashmiris in various Indian states, demanding an immediate stop to such incidents.
According to Kashmir24, Irfan Lone and Iftikhar Ahmed, carrying placards reading “Stop harassment of innocent Kashmiris”, held the protest on the stairs of the assembly. They were joined by MLAs from Rajouri, who also demanded an end to violence and intimidation targeting Kashmiris outside the territory.
Referring to the recent incident involving Kashmiri nursing students at a university in Rajasthan, the two legislators said they would raise the issue in the House. The students were assaulted during a protest over course recognition and four of them were injured. A female student was also manhandled.
The MLAs urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene and ensure safety and protection of Kashmiris across India.
