Complete shutdown, protests erupt despite curfew-like curbs in IIOJK

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, defying curfew-like restrictions, protests erupted while mobile internet suspended across the territory against the martyrdom of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei in US-Israel airstrikes.

According to Kashmir24, a complete shutdown was observed in the territory on the call of Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema headed by senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Shops and business establishments remained closed while traffic was off the roads which were blocked by the authorities in Srinagar and other parts of the territory.

Despite restrictions, thousands of people in Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Baramulla, Bandipora, Islamabad, Kishtwar and Kargil staged processions, beating their chests and raising slogans against the US and Israel. Indian forces used brute force and fired teargas shells on mourners in Batamaloo and other parts of Srinagar.
