Srinagar: The Indian National Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has urged the New Delhi-imposed administration, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, to immediately release all innocent youths detained after protests over the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli strike.
According to Kashmir24, at least 800 youths were arrested by Indian forces during search operations and house raids across Srinagar and other areas of the Kashmir valley following spontaneous protests against the US-Israeli aggression.
The IIOJK Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra, in a statement in Srinagar, appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to order the release of all youths who had participated in protests in different parts of the Valley.
Karra emphasized that the demonstrations were a reflection of people’s anger over the assassination of the Supreme Leader, and those arrested were not involved in any illegal activities. He clarified that the detainees are part of mainstream political and social activism. In view of these circumstances and the approaching holy festival of Eid, he urged that that all such individuals be released forthwith.
