China’s active diplomacy can help lower temperatures in Middle East: Masood Khan

Islamabad: Former president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has said that China’s growing diplomatic engagement in the Middle East, particularly its coordination with Pakistan and dialogue with the United States and Iran, can contribute to lowering tensions and creating space for negotiations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Sardar Masood Khan in a statement, commenting on the forthcoming meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump, described the development as positive, saying it could help lower temperatures not only globally but also in the Middle East.

He noted that China had recently become more active diplomatically regarding the US-Iran conflict and had emphasised the importance of freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. Recent Chinese diplomatic statements have likewise called for restraint, renewed negotiations and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
