New Delhi: The Congress has said the BJP government in Rajasthan is shielding perpetrators in a Dalit girl’s gang rape case in Ajmer, saying atrocities against Dalits are rising in BJP-ruled states.
According to Kashmir24, addressing a press conference, Congress leader Rajendra Pal Gautam cited data showing 76% of Dalit atrocity cases were reported from five BJP-ruled states: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Maharashtra.
Gautam alleged police inaction in the Ajmer case, where a 15-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped in July 2024, with no arrests made for eight months despite her statement recorded under Section 164 CrPC.
