Congress slams Modi govt’s delimitation plan as ‘weapon of mass distraction’

New Delhi: The Congress party has opposed the Modi government’s move to implement women’s reservation in Lok Sabha and state assemblies based on the 2011 Census, calling it a “weapon of mass distraction”.

According to Kashmir24, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making misleading statements and “hoodwinking” the public. Ramesh argued that the proposal would disproportionately benefit larger, more populous states, amplifying their political influence at the expense of smaller states like those in South India, Punjab, Haryana, and the North East.

“The nation is facing a serious economic and foreign policy crisis. This is nothing but a Weapon of Mass Distraction,” he said.
